20/365 - Running to Stand Still
Have you ever had one of those dreams where you are trying to run somewhere, maybe to or away from something, and as hard as you try, you aren't going anywhere? No matter how cautious we are or how much we try to prepare for, life is always going to throw us curve balls and we'll always run into unexpected bumps in the road. It happens. It's part of life. And you know what else there is about life that's pretty cool? It. Goes. On. It goes on with us and it goes on without us. Sometimes, there are events or people in life that we encounter that we think are the absolute worst things in the entire world. And yes, sometimes they are. However, as badly as they suck at the time, we get through them. In good, healthy ways or sometimes destructive whythehelldididothat ways or even ways we don't know they helped but they did. Life isn't mean to be perfect. Life is supposed to full of mistakes. I try to look at every mistake as a learning experience. I don't always see them right away or even after a long, long time, but eventually I am able to see and understand why something happened and why I changed for the better because of it. It may not always be something significant, but I believe every mistake yields some sort of wisdom. Wisdom we can keep for ourselves, wisdom we can pass on to others, or wisdom we can learn from and use in the future. How boring would life be if everything worked out the way we wanted it to? Sometimes a little kick in the ass from life is needed and it's not always the end of the world as much as we like to act like it is. I like to think that everything happens for a reason. It reminds me of a line in an old Diamond Rio song, "Well I know God has his reasons, but sometimes it's hard to see them..." Some things in life are just meant to be figured out. Sometimes alone, sometimes with the help of others (and who these people end up being may surprise us.) But in the end, that's what friends are for. No problem is too big to overcome. Just remember that it's okay to ask for help sometimes. You never have to do anything alone.
