16/365 - Simple Pleasures

It might just be me, but I think there are a lot of things in life that are simple pleasures. For instance: babies laughing, the smell of a fresh load of laundry right out of the drier, talking with a long lost friend, chocolate chip cookies.... I could go on forever. Today I got my first shave ice from Matsumoto's on the North Shore, which is the best place on the island. When we got there, the line ran through the store, along the front of the building, and wrapped around the side. There were easily 40+ people in line, locals and tourists alike. For people to be willing to wait in line for 20+ minutes for a $2.50 shave ice, there must be some sort of enjoyment. There are so many things that are so simple and insignificant, yet seem to matter so much to us. Whether we acknowledge them or not, they exist and we experience one, if not several, every day. If only we have the senses to be aware. Take pleasure in these little joys that life gives us every day, for we never know when they might be gone.
